A Recap of Our Trip to IBS 2025
I had the privilege of attending the International Builders Show in Las Vegas last week, joined by two of Advent Building’s clients, Ole and Janice.
While the show officially kicked off on Tuesday, I arrived early for a full-day pre-show class on Monday, the “Building Science Symposium”.
Before the class I snuck out for a brief hike at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area - the air starts off dry and chilly until the sun finally rises over the hills—then it warms up fast. Layers are key…
The Building Science Symposium was a great reminder of the critical elements that go into building a home with superior indoor air quality, durability, and longevity. Key takeaways for me included the necessity of properly flashing windows, incorporating a well-designed rain screen behind siding or brick, and effectively managing indoor humidity levels. These aren’t just details—they’re essential components that work together as a system to create a healthier, longer-lasting home. When executed correctly, they make all the difference.
Day 2 of the International Builder Show was about two things: visiting the 2025 New American Show Home and viewing the booths from vendors on the Show Floor.
The New American Show Home is built for the show and will be sold after. Comprising 9,423 heated square feet, the home is a glimpse into leading edge building technology and design. It is listed for sale currently at $15.5 Million. I was most impressed by many of the details incorporating novel materials and the indoor-outdoor connection accentuated by the motorized sliding doors and shades.
The show floor was a testament to the ever-expanding choices available to today’s homeowners. From high-performance appliances and statement lighting to innovative fireplaces, flooring, and plumbing fixtures, the level of quality and variety has never been greater. Here are a few standouts that push design and functionality forward.
The Hammock Tub
Suspended between two walls, the name pretty much tells the story.
Combo Shower Niches and Shower Valves
I appreciate the ingenuity of this elegant, all-in-one solution.
Backlit Stone Panels
Yes, you read that right. These are micro-thin real-stone panels over an LED Fabric mat, and it creates an incredible look.
There are many more products and ideas that I’d like to share when and as time permits. If you’re ready to build your dream home and want to incorporate some innovative and functional components, please Contact Us.
Were you able to attend the show? I’d love to hear what you heard and saw that you found impactful.
